Main Cast of Dexter: Resurrection Season 1
Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan
Hall returns as Dexter, the former Miami police blood-spatter analyst who secretly kills other murderers. Following his near-fatal encounter with Harrison in New Blood, Dexter wakes up and travels to New York hoping to repair their fractured relationship. Hall remains the franchise’s emotional and narrative center, balancing Dexter’s attempts at connection with his dangerous impulses.
Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan
Alcott portrays Dexter’s adult son, who is trying to build a life beyond his father’s shadow. He first played Harrison in Dexter: New Blood. Their uneasy bond gives Resurrection a family story alongside its criminal investigations: Harrison wants independence, but their shared past keeps pulling them together.
Uma Thurman as Charley
Thurman’s Charley is a former Special Ops officer who works as Leon Prater’s security chief. She understands the dangerous people around her and operates with a discipline that makes her more than a conventional bodyguard. Paramount has confirmed Thurman will return for Season 2.
Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater
Dinklage plays a wealthy collector fascinated by serial killers. Prater hosts private gatherings where his guests discuss their crimes, bringing Dexter into contact with a disturbing new circle. This is a major Season 1 role; Dinklage hasn’t been announced as a returning Season 2 regular.
David Zayas as Angel Batista
Zayas reprises the Miami Metro detective who once worked alongside Dexter. Batista’s discovery that his former colleague survived raises questions about what really happened in Miami. His return links the New York storyline directly to unresolved suspicions from the original show.
Other Important Season 1 Characters
James Remar as Harry Morgan: Dexter’s deceased adoptive father continues to appear as a voice of guidance within Dexter’s mind. Harry’s presence does not mean the character has physically come back to life.
Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara: Blessing is a New York ride-share driver who befriends Dexter and offers him a place to stay, providing an unexpectedly ordinary connection in a threatening city.
Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace: An NYPD detective investigating a suspicious killing connected to the hotel where Harrison works. Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva: Her investigative partner.
Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera: Elsa works at the Empire Hotel and is one of Harrison’s closest friends in New York.
Desmond Harrington as Joey Quinn: The former Miami Metro detective returns. Harrington, initially a guest, is promoted to a Season 2 series regular.
Guest Stars and Their Characters
Season 1 features memorable guests connected to Prater’s secret gatherings.
Neil Patrick Harris plays Lowell, known as the Tattoo Collector, while Krysten Ritter portrays Mia LaPierre, whose criminal alias is Lady Vengeance. Eric Stonestreet appears as Al Walker, also called Rapunzel, and David Dastmalchian plays Gareth, associated with the Gemini Killer identity.
These are distinct characters, not different names for the same killer. Ritter and Stonestreet are also confirmed to return as guest stars in Season 2. That distinction matters because a guest appearance should not automatically be counted as a recurring or regular role.
Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Cast: Who Is Joining?
Season 2, scheduled for October 30, 2026, expands the New York setting with new killers and law-enforcement characters. The most notable newcomers are Brian Cox and Dan Stevens, but two other new series regulars have important connections to Harrison.
| New actor | Confirmed Season 2 role |
|---|---|
| Brian Cox | The New York Ripper |
| Dan Stevens | The Five Borough Killer |
| Bokeem Woodbine | Captain Mixon |
| Nona Parker Johnson | Fiona Mixon |
| Gabriel Luna | Ray Ballard, the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger |
Brian Cox plays the New York Ripper, a notorious killer whose crimes haunted the city years earlier. Although he’s no longer actively killing when he’s introduced, he continues tormenting survivors.
Dan Stevens plays the Five Borough Killer, who threatens victims through calls to police. The names are easy to mix up: Cox is the New York Ripper, and Stevens is the Five Borough Killer.
Bokeem Woodbine portrays Captain Mixon, a homicide commander. Nona Parker Johnson plays his daughter Fiona, a homicide training officer announced as Harrison’s new romantic interest. Gabriel Luna joins in a guest role as Ray Ballard, also known as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger.
Returning Season 2 actors include Hall, Alcott, Thurman, Remar, Harrington, Mwine, Saraf and Fumusa, together with guest stars Ritter and Stonestreet. Paramount’s October 2026 announcement confirms these roles ahead of the premiere.
How Does Resurrection Connect to the Original Dexter?
Resurrection continues directly from Dexter: New Blood, rather than restarting the story with an unrelated cast. Its opening premise follows Dexter surviving the shooting that ended that series and searching for Harrison in New York City.
Returning performers reinforce the continuity. Hall and Zayas reprise characters introduced in the original Dexter, Remar remains associated with Harry Morgan, and Harrington brings Joey Quinn back into the franchise. Harrison’s casting is another key distinction: Jack Alcott plays the older character, rather than the performers who played Harrison as a child.
